Julien Thomas

Julien Thomas (they/them) is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, writer, and cultural historian whose work explores memory, place, and history. They create visual archives to preserve the emotional and cultural significance of places that have disappeared, been transformed, or remain overlooked. Julien is the founder of Floriography Studio NYC and the 2026 Artist-in-Residence at the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center. Their interdisciplinary practice draws from years of documenting feminist and LGBTQ+ history through research, oral history, and public education. They are the author of GENERATION QUEER (Lee & Low Books, 2025), a nonfiction YA celebrating the lives and work of LGBTQ+ youth activists. Julien's work has been recognized by the Publishing Triangle, NYC Pride, the Curve Power List, Queer History Boston, and the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.
