In addition to being leading scholars in the field of Middle East Studies, Professors Abdel Monem Said Aly, Khalil Shikaki and Shai Feldman, all Senior Fellows at the Crown Center for Middle East Studies at Brandeis University, have long served as top advisors to their respective governments–Egypt, the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
Their textbook based on their class is a textbook for humanity, a blue print for peacemaking, entitled Arabs and Israelis: Conflict and Peacemaking in the Middle East.
Said Aly is Chairman of the Board, CEO, and Director of the Regional Center for Strategic Studies in Cairo and Chairman of Al-Masry Al-Youm, a leading Arabic language daily in Egypt. He previously served as President of the Al-Ahram Center for Political & Strategic Studies in Cairo and Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Al-Ahram Newspaper and Publishing House.
Shai Feldman is also a Senior Fellow and member of the Board of Directors of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University, where he co-chairs the Crown-Belfer Middle East Project. Between 1997 and 2005, he headed the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies at Tel Aviv University and, from 2001-2003, he served as a member of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters.
Director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah, Khalil Shikaki is a world-renowned expert on Palestinian public opinion and a widely published author. Since 1993, Dr. Shikaki has conducted more than 200 polls among Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and, since 2000, he has conducted dozens of joint polls among Palestinians and Israelis.
