Erika Blumenfeld

Internationally recognized photographer Erika Blumenfeld explores the subtle shifts in atmospheric, astronomic and environmental phenomena. The recipient of numerous grants, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008, Blumenfeld was also accepted into the New York Foundation for the Arts’ Fiscal Sponsorship Program for her ambitious work, The Polar Project, a series of environment-based installation artworks focusing on the distinct light, sky, and sound in the Arctic and Antarctica. In January, 2009, Blumenfeld served as artist-in-residence of ITASC (Interpolar Transnational Art Science Constellation) and SANAP (South African National Antarctic Program) where she produced several new bodies of work for The Polar Project.
