Charles Capper
Charles Capper is Professor of History at Boston University. The first volume of his two-volume biography, Margaret Fuller: An American Romantic Life, won the Bancroft Prize in 1993. Capper also co-edited The American Intellectual Tradition with David A. Hollinger and co-edits the journal Modern Intellectual History with Anthony J. La Vopa and Nicholas Phillipson. Capper, who has been awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Humanities Center, and the Charles Warren Center, is now working on a study of the Transcendentalist movement and Romantic intellectual culture in America.
