Andrea Buchanan
Before becoming a writer, Andrea Buchanan trained as a pianist, earning a Bachelor's of Music in piano performance from the Boston Conservatory of Music and a Master's from the San Francisco Conservatory. She is the author of Mother Shock: Loving Every (Other) Minute of It and co-author of the bestselling Daring Book for Girls series, which has been published in a dozen languages. In addition, Buchanan has edited several well-received anthologies, including Literary Mama: Reading for the Maternally Inclined, It’s a Boy: Women Writers on Raising Sons and It’s a Girl: Women Writers on Raising Daughters, and co-founded the popular web magazine literarymama.com. In 2012, Open Road Integrated Media published her ground-breaking multimedia young adult ebook, Gift, replete with music, videos, art, and a Minecraft map based on the world of the book.
